Getting started

File a notification with your local school superintendent by September 1 each year. Include the name, age, and grade of each student, and the assessment method you plan to use.

Assessment

Ohio requires annual assessment via either standardized testing or portfolio review. Both options are widely available and well-supported by the Ohio homeschool community.

Required subjects

Cover language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and fine arts. Ohio gives families broad flexibility in how these subjects are taught.
