Yarrow was born from a shared frustration. As a homeschool mom navigating an increasingly complex landscape of state regulations, course requirements, curriculum options, and college admissions standards, Marissa realized there had to be a better way.
The questions kept coming: Which courses matter? What regulations apply in our state? How do we plan ahead for college entrance requirements and scholarships? Where do we find the right curriculum fit for our family? The answers were scattered across websites, Facebook pages, and outdated guides—leaving parents overwhelmed and uncertain.
Marissa is herself a homeschool graduate and has homeschooled all three of her children. She founded The Urban Cottage, an a-la-carte education provider serving homeschool families in Tampa, FL with a variety of high-quality educational services and resources. That direct experience—both as a homeschool student and as a homeschool parent—taught her firsthand what families really need: flexibility, quality instruction, and clarity about pathways forward. She recognized that homeschool parents didn't need more resources scattered everywhere—they needed one trusted place to get organized, make informed decisions, and feel confident about their educational plans.
